Chapter 213 - 210: So Attentive, So Considerate
Of course, Clara Grant went back with Seth Quinn to his apartment. It was just nine o’clock when they arrived.
Even though she had napped for a long time in the afternoon and had a cup of coffee, leaving her wide awake, she still opted to go to her room to sleep. It was the best way to avoid being around Seth Quinn, who always said or did things that made her feel awkward.
"Where’s the guest room?" Clara Grant asked Seth Quinn the moment they stepped inside.
Seth Quinn frowned and asked, "Why are you looking for the guest room?"
"...To sleep, of course." ’What else would I do in a guest room?’
Seth Quinn’s frown didn’t lessen. He didn’t answer her, instead changing his shoes, walking straight into the living room, and sitting down on the sofa.
Clara Grant had no choice but to quickly change her shoes and hurry after him. She didn’t dare to sit, so she stood beside him and asked again, "The guest room... where is it?"
Seth Quinn still didn’t say a word. He picked up the remote, turned on the TV, and glanced over at her. "Sit down and watch some TV."
"I don’t—" Before she could finish the two words, he yanked her over, forcing her to sit beside him.
Clara Grant was fuming. ’I don’t want to watch TV, I want to go to the guest room and sleep!’
But she desperately bit back her anger. ’When you’re under someone else’s roof, you have to bow your head.’ Besides, who did she have to blame but herself for agreeing to stay at his place?
After calming herself, she spoke again in a placid tone, "I’m sleepy. I want to go to bed."
"Oh?" Seth Quinn tilted his head slightly, watching her little act. He let out that one simple syllable, and then nothing more.
Clara Grant was genuinely angry now. She shot to her feet and snapped, "Seth Quinn, what is the meaning of this?"
Seth Quinn didn’t seem fazed. In fact, a smile touched his lips as he replied, "I’m saying there is no guest room."
"The spare bedroom, then!"
"Don’t have one of those either." Seth Quinn shrugged. "No spare bedroom, no guest room. Just the master bedroom."
’Yeah, right!’ Clara Grant turned and ran upstairs. "An apartment this big? I refuse to believe there’s only one master bedroom. I’ll find it myself!"
But she had only taken a few steps when the doorbell rang.
Clara Grant froze, startled. Her first instinct was to hide.
’Who could be here this late? It can’t be Seth Quinn’s parents, can it?’
Seth Quinn glanced at her, turned off the TV, and got up to open the door. He didn’t forget to reassure her, "Don’t worry, it’s just a delivery."
’A delivery? He didn’t order more takeout, did he? Is he hungry again?’
While she was lost in thought, Seth Quinn opened the door. A moment later, someone carrying several large bags appeared at the entrance.
"Mr. Quinn, your delivery."
"I’ll take them." Seth Quinn took the items. After the delivery person left, he closed the door and walked back into the living room, but he didn’t stop. Instead, he headed straight for the stairs.
As he passed Clara, he said, "Come upstairs with me."
Clara Grant said nothing, simply following him upstairs and into the room she had woken up in earlier.
Seth Quinn placed the bags on the bed, walked over, and closed the door. Then he said to Clara, "Here are some pajamas and a change of clothes. You said you wanted to sleep, right? Go take a shower, get changed, and then you can go to bed."
Clara Grant stared at the bags, stunned. ’So the reason he was waiting downstairs instead of coming up... was because he was waiting for someone to deliver clothes for me.’
’When did he even buy these? Oh, right. He probably called and ordered them when he stepped out at the café.’
’But... why was he being so thoughtful and considerate? Even she had forgotten that she hadn’t brought anything with her, not even a change of clothes.’
’And yet, he’d remembered and gone out of his way to buy them for her.’
She couldn’t help but look up at Seth Quinn.
