I Just Want to Farm, But My Beasts Keep Evolving!!

Chapter 120: All Parties Make Their Move

Chapter 120: All Parties Make Their Move

"Are you really going to go solo so soon, Raiden?" John asked with concern in his voice.

"Of course. At this rate, I don’t think I can accomplish my goals while I stay here. Missions are the best way to push myself." Raiden answered with a confident expression on his face, his face and hands tanned under the constant hard work.

And he had grounds to be so arrogant, too. It had been a month since he came to the military camp. And every single day, he had thrown himself into the deep end of the missions, going at them every single day.

He was so determined to tackle as many missions as he could, sometimes even two or three of them a day. He was so frantic in tackling missions that his teammates could not keep up with him and his frantic schedule.

After the month of constant missions after missions, it finally came to a tipping point where others couldn’t keep up with him anymore. So Raiden finally decided to go on a solo adventure.

"Well, you geniuses are all built different anyways. Take care of yourself, okay?" John said with some reluctance as he patted his shoulders. The kid had grown on him.

"Don’t raise weird death flags like this, you bastard. You are acting like my lover or something, eww." Raiden made gagging noises, as if even the sheer thought of it made him cringe and gag somehow.

"You stinky brat!! Someone like you would be lucky to have someone like me!! Now scram, don’t let me see you again before you finish your mission. Shu shu." John laughed and shoo’ed him away from the grounds, before slamming the barracks gate on his face.

A good-natured smile came on his face as Raiden saw him go inside, before he started checking his gear.

New Black combat boots with violet thunder-like pattern running up on the sides, crisscrossing in the back of the shoes, creating an X-like pattern. They felt like they were made with strong components, making an audible noise whenever they impacted the ground.

He had taken to wearing military green cargo pants, with a black shirt that had golden highlights hidden inside it.

Completing the outfit were black fingerless gloves with a crystal-like dome shining on the back of them.

After checking everything was effective and working, Raiden nodded in satisfaction.

"Let’s go, Woolie, we’ll try to get back before dawn, okay?" Raiden patted the little sheep.

"Woolie!!" Woolie nodded in confidence. He also had undergone some subtle changes within a month, that wouldn’t be visible to anyone if they didn’t look at him closely.

His golden horns had started shining with even more splendour and darker colour, while the violet colour in his eyes deepened. From the outside, he looked no different from before, but on the inside, he was many times stronger than he had been a month ago.

"Sha Sha!!" Neva moved her hands on top of Raiden’s head, as if complaining.

"Haha, don’t worry, Neva, I haven’t forgotten about you. Since it is a solo mission, I think you will also get a chance to let loose a little, okay? Don’t worry." Raiden patted the little spider’s head, who closed all her eyes in comfort.

"Shaa!!!" (૭ 。•̀ ᵕ •́。 )૭

Neva was fired up. She hadn’t gotten a chance to fight ever since she came here, with Raiden trying to keep her powers hidden. He had no other choice, for her abilities had gotten too destructive. In terms of sheer attack power alone, she had already surpassed her big brother.

"Let’s go!! Towards the future of slacking off!!"

"Woolie!!"

"Shaa!!"

-----------------------

"Haha, newbie king, you going somewhere?? As your Platoon’s captain, you should have let me know about it beforehand, you know." Raiden encountered the face of someone he didn’t want to see on the way, causing him to pause in his tracks.

"It is nothing but an insignificant mission, Captain, so I didn’t feel the need to bother you with it," Raiden replied in a calm voice, while internally adapting a defensive posture.

"I was just worried about you. Take care of yourself in the wild, okay??" Bai Zang’s eyes squinted as he forcefully patted his shoulders, his fingers brushing something small and near-invisible onto Raiden’s collar as he did.

Raiden brushed off the hand of the squinty-eyed guy before saying another polite word, leaving before Neva launched an attack on him.

After seeing him disappear in the corner, Bai Zang calmly pulled out his phone and dialled a number.

"Hello, it’s me. The target has left the zone and is going on a solo mission. Yes, as requested, I have put on the Beast Attracting powder on him. Yes, he won’t know what hit him when all the Terrans within 200 km come running towards him. With the powers he had shown so far, there is no chance he’ll make it back to the base."

He uttered such chilling words with a calm face, like he had done just the most mundane thing, instead of plotting murder.

"Raiden, oh Raiden, you must not blame me. If you ever want to blame anyone, blame that lineage of yours, and for awakening such potential that threatened the main family."

On the other side of the base, a bald guy was sitting on a box on crates, munching on some pumpkin seeds as his eyes kept drifting towards the gate from time to time.

Suddenly, his eyes lit up in recognition, as he quickly waited for two minutes before pulling out his phone and dialling a number in a rush.

"Hello boss!! The brat you have asked us to keep an eye on had just left the base!! He is all alone this time!! This is the perfect chance to catch him in the wild!! Yes, I will gather all the boys and will follow him discreetly."

"Haha, don’t worry, we won’t need backup. It’s just a measly kid. In fact, I feel like I can take care of him alone. You are making unnecessary moves by sending so many of the brothers over."

Suddenly, cold sweat broke over the bald man’s head, as his expression turned into one of fear.

"No, no boss!! I wasn’t trying to disobey your order!! I would never do that!! I will go after him right now with everyone!! I am really sorry!!"

After apologising, he hung up the phone with a sigh.

"Phew, don’t blame me, kid. If anything, you should blame your luck for offending someone you shouldn’t have offended."

After saying so, the bald man immediately went inside and started gathering people, leading over 30 of them outside into the wild.

The guard on the gate duty watched as the horde of people went into the wild together, keeping a calm face as he pulled out a cell phone before dialling a number.

"Hello, boss, the other party has taken the bait."

"Hmm, got it. You did a good job." A magnetic voice called out from the other side as she hung up the phone.

Isadora looked at her phone with a smile as she thought back to the conversations she had heard in the base recently.

It was a very interesting conversation indeed, one that plotted the murder of her future son-in-law.

She did a little more digging into the issue and found out that there was more to it than she initially thought. Whoever her son-in-law had offended was a powerful person in the city, for the hunt for his head was on a citywide scale.

She pulled out the recent document she had acquired through her channels, putting it in the centre of the table.

[Name: Raiden Ashford

Rank: Silver Tier

Battle Strength: Silver High, Possible Gold Tier

Bounty: 50 Million Credits, 75 Million if Captured Alive

Terra Beasts: Woolie, A Thunder Type Silver Terra Beast. An unknown Silver Light Type Terra Beast.]

After that was a comprehensive breakdown of all his abilities, the ones he and Woolie had shown in the tournament, as well as some he had displayed over time in the training camp, with a photo of his face from the Tournament in the centre.

Clearly, whoever the person was who was targeting him, they had done their research and were willing to bleed for it.

"It’s such a shame you are my son-in-law now. If you weren’t, even I would have felt tempted to make a move on you. Shame, such a damn shame." Isadora licked her crimson lips with her tongue, her expression filled with nothing but excitement.

"How will you overcome this challenge of yours, Raiden? Will you be able to take care of it yourself?? Or will you finally call upon my help?? So much excitement. No, this won’t do; I must see it by my own very eyes."

Isadora slammed the table with her hands as she stood up, her expression filled with a bewitching and slightly chilly smile.

A smile so dangerous that anyone who looked at it would find themselves frozen in fear, for this wasn’t a smile of Isadora Solaris, the Vice Head of the Alliance. No, this was the deadly smile, the smile of the Crimson Witch of Flames.

With that, she moved out herself, in pursuit of the unknown excitement and a good show.

Meanwhile, Raiden was happily walking in the jungle, having no idea of the dangers closing in from all sides.
