Chapter 132: The Deep Sleep
Chapter 132: The Deep Sleep
Raiden cooked the rabbit on top of the flame, sprinkling some herbs he found in the wild on top of it and cooking it to perfection.
A delicious aroma started flowing out from the rabbit as the natural oils glistened on its surface, making the nearby Neva drool. After flipping it a few times, he took it off the flames before tearing out a leg piece and taking a bite out of it, savouring the deliciousness.
"Mmm!! The rest is yours, Neva, try it!! It’s very delicious."
"Sha Shaa!!"
Neva needed no more invitation as she jumped on the rest of the rabbit. eating it with gusto. In no time at all, she finished it completely, falling back down on her butt, patting her stomach in satisfaction.
It had been three weeks since he started journeying backwards to the base, and the number of dangers he encountered along the way was uncountable.
"System, show me my status." Raiden looked at the flickering flame in front of his eyes as he talked to the system.
{Name: Raiden Ashford}
{Rank: Silver}
{Potential: E Tier}
{Bloodline: Normal Human Bloodline}
{Techniques: Advanced Meditation Mantra (Limit Reached), Advanced Physical Conditioning (Limit Reached), Seven Star Steps(Limit Reached, Level 5)}
{Skills: Shameless (Level 7), Cold Hearted (Level 5), Hooligan (Level 5), Cooking (Level 5), Poison Resistance (Level 4), Stealth(Level 3), Cleaning (Level 3), Flirting (Level 1)}
"Hmm, not bad, not bad at all." Raiden nodded his head after seeing the updated figures on the screen.
The constant combat allowed his Seven Star Steps to level up rapidly, and he acquired the Stealth skill as well. Overall, he was much stronger now than he was before he entered the jungle.
"Sha Sha..." Rai Rai, I have a question.
"What is it, Neva?" Raiden asked as he started laying out the temporary bed he had created out of tree leaves and vines, getting ready for the night.
"Sha Sha..." When will Big Brother wake up from his sleep?? I miss him a lot...
Her face turned into an aggrieved one, making anyone who had a look take pity on her.
Raiden went still for a moment. Another expression of sadness appeared on his face.
He looked at the sheep that was lying on the side peacefully, his eyes closed and breathing even. If one looked at it from the side, it would seem like he was sleeping peacefully. The problem was that this sleep had lasted 3 weeks already.
"Don’t worry, he will wake up soon, Neva. He will wake up very, very...soon." A hardened look appeared in Raiden’s eyes as he spoke, his whole body exuding coldness.
It all melted away a second later, as he returned to his cheerful persona.
"Get some sleep for now. Tomorrow is the last stretch before we return to the base." Raiden patted her head as he lay down on his makeshift bed, holding Neva with his left arm and Woolie with his somewhat shivering right arm.
Within a few minutes, Neva fell asleep near him, snoring softly, but the sleep eluded Raiden.
Only he knew how harsh these three weeks had been and how many times he had come close to death. The numerous scars that adorned his body were proof of that. But that experience did not rattle him as much as the loss of his closest partner did.
Tomorrow was the day he would make his return, and tomorrow was the day he would have his sweet, sweet revenge.
"Wake up soon, buddy, the world doesn’t feel the same without you..."
{Woolie, The Storm Ram}
{Current Condition: In Deep Sleep/Coma}
------------------------
The next morning, Raiden set out towards the base once again with Neva in tow.
He had reached the 250 km mark from the base, and he was hoping to cover it within a day or two. The closer he got to the base, the weaker the Terra Beasts became, with Neva now strong enough to handle the most Gold-Tier beasts by herself.
She was even capable enough to fight back against the Platinum Tier Beasts or at least buy enough time to get away. But Raiden couldn’t take out the image of that black dragon from his mind.
They were reaching near his territory very soon, and he was the strongest Platinum-Tier Terra Beast Raiden had seen. Among the hundreds of Terrans he came across on his journey, none of them came even close to the pressure he let off, clearly marking him as one of the most elite ones among the Terra Beasts.
Clearly, Raiden wasn’t the only one who was feeling the pressure, as Neva herself found her body tensed as she imagined the confrontation with that giant dragon.
Seeing this, Raiden just patted her head on his shoulders, making her stiffen up.
"Don’t worry about that overgrown lizard. We are much stronger than we were before. Besides, there is a chance we might not even encounter him on this journey at all. Just keep an eye out for the rest, okay?"
"Sha Sha!!" Don’t worry, Rai Rai~ If he dares to show himself, I will beat him up for big brother!!

"Hahaha, looking forward to it." Raiden laughed and nodded as he ran along the way, moving multiple metres with each step. Astonishingly enough, whenever he landed on the ground, his foot didn’t even touch it as a cushion of air appeared beneath his feet before he blasted off, like he wasn’t travelling on the ground but in the air.
"Bzzzz!!"
A giant bee jumped out of a nearby jungle, measuring over five metres in length.
Her body started shimmering with a golden glow as she let out tens of thunderbolts towards Raiden, covering the nearby area.
Raiden didn’t panic as he moved back swiftly while commanding.
"Neva takes care of him quickly. Use Heavenfall Spears!!"
"Sha!!"
Neva didn’t waste any time as she coordinated seamlessly with Raiden, summoning giant spears of light, each measuring over 5 meters long.
They hovered in the air above the giant bee for a second before falling down instantly, making it dodge frantically.
Bang! Bang! Bang!!
"Bzzz Bzzz!!"
The bee weaved between the light spears in panic, dodging them left and right. Just when she thought she was out of the danger, a spear materialised behind her, falling to the exact position where she was going to dodge, impaling her straight through.
BANG!!
Her body twitched for a second before falling completely silent as she took her last breath.
Raiden didn’t even look back once as a result, as he kept moving towards the base, his eyes focused beyond the horizon.
"Wait for me, everyone, just wait for me, I am coming back."
